The Deacero gabion is a regular prismatic shaped box, made of triple twist galvanized wire mesh class III. The mesh is as rigid as needed to facilitate the installation of the gabion.
The gabion walls are designed to maintain a difference in the ground levels at both sides, which makes an important group of elements of support and protection when it is located in river-beds.
The accelerated water erosion is considered to be remarkably damaging for soil. Because of this phenomenon, large fertile land portions are lost as a result of the detachment of solid material from the mid and upper parts of the watershed provoking the siltation of the water, electric, farming and communication infrastructure existing in the lower part.
In rivers, the gabion accelerates the state of equilibrium of the riverbed. It prevents erosion, material transport and bursting of banks. In addition, the gabion controls floods protecting valleys and settlements against floods.
